Hovering above Boulder Canyon, this unique residence pushes the boundaries of convention.
Under the sharp pitched roofs houses a dynamic program that pivots between community-oriented meeting spaces and private hideaways. The vaulted roofs encourage residents to look inwards toward the core of the spaces, but also outward with deep perspectives that are framed by large portal windows oriented toward the distant mountain landscapes.
The open publicly shared residential spaces branch into more secluded private spaces connected by a shared corridor that connects all volumes together.
A forestry accessory workshop building that is a short walk from the main house allows the homeowners who steward the surrounding forest to be able to store timber and use a wide spectrum of specialized wood working equipment.
All of the buildings take on a low-impact design, minimizing the impact to the existing land by using column supports that allow the buildings to hover above the land. Exterior materials are selected to be fire resistant and protective given the exposed location of the surrounding forest.
In total the combined spaces are highly specialized and designed to reflect this unique location and function.
